St Vladimir’s Grand Ball is the only formal and truly spectacular ball organised for our Russian community. Therefore, formal dress is required: floor length evening gowns for the ladies and black tie for the gentlemen. Short dresses are not deemed suitable.

For this year’s Masquerade Ball 2024, the theme is 19th century Russian history. Wear your most extravagant and flamboyant evening gown, tuxedo and tie, or a period costume inspired by the 19th century. You will be able to capture the essence of the era with our unique photo opportunities throughout the Plaza Ballroom.

BEST COSTUME We will once again be awarding the most creative and expressive costume of our guests.

DRESS TO GUESS!  Don’t forget your masquerade mask for this glamorous event. Find a mask and wear it well, so your identity none can tell. Whether you come with your friends, or a masked date, the air of mystery and surprise will make it all the more exciting!

The Grand Balls are always enjoyed by all age groups with any dancing skills. It’s the ideal Ball for our young people to attend, especially those who’ve already been to a Debutante Ball as they will really enjoy the ballroom dancing as well as all the glamour and excitement of a Grand Ball. Our older citizens will feel re-born and re-energised as they allow themselves to be swept away by the magic of the Ball and their own beautiful memories.

The dancing at our Grand Balls is not strictly professional ballroom – anyone who loves music and dance will love coming out onto the dance floor and dancing to their heart’s content – or even sitting in comfort and watching from the sidelines!

At this year’s Grand Ball, we will be introducing the popular dance styles of the period, such as the Polonaise, Mazurka, Waltz and Polka, however at the end of the night you will be able to dance away with the help of our DJ.

Russians have assimilated into the Australian community with many mixed marriages and highly successful business partnerships, and indeed fought side-by-side with the ANZACs; Russians helped build the Princes Highway and worked on the Snowy Mountains River Scheme – in fact, Russians have always been an integral part of Australian history and politics.

Therefore, St Vladimir’s Grand Balls are delighted to invite and welcome ALL guests to enjoy Russian festivities and hospitality! In fact, guests to our previous Balls came from Darwin, Coffs Harbour, Tasmania, Sydney & Canberra. This year, we’re expecting guests from Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide too. All are welcome!

St Vladimir’s Grand Ball 2024 “Masquerade” will be held at the magnificent Plaza Ballroom of the Regent Theatre, 191 Collins St, Melbourne.
